|“||You know, Sis... ... Sometimes, you really are like a mom.||”|
—Yuu Shinohara, Corpse Party (CHAPTER 4)
Yuu is a young boy with average height and average weight. He has khaki brown hair and blue eyes. He wears a red plaid shirt underneath a white hoodie with horizontal silver stripes on the sleeves, and blue jeans.
Yuu is Seiko's little brother and the eldest son of the Shinohara family. He holds complex feelings for his missing mother, and in truth he still wants to be spoiled like a child. As the eldest son, he has to behave courageously and determinedly; he is always willing to take care of household chores and watch after his younger siblings. Since he is dependable and kind to girls, he is very popular among the girls in his class. He's unaware of that however, and believes that this is the natural way one should act. Since he can be relied on in a pinch, he also has many friends.
Yuu appears in the prologue of the fourth chapter. He has a flashback about taking a bath with his sister, Seiko, and wonders why she is late coming back home when suddenly a gust of wind slams a bird against the window.
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows
Naomi Nakashima mentions Yuu in the beginning of the eighth episode. She sees him scolding his younger siblings as she passes in front of the Shinohara house, and remarks that Yuu took over Seiko's role as caretaker, since the latter disappeared.
- Yuu is the second shortest male character in the series at 134cm (4'4"), behind Ryou Yoshizawa.
